The use of a disposable sheath is a viable alternative to maintain the sterility of a flexible Cystoscope during Cystoscopy procedures. The sheaths are certified to be impervious to the transmission of microorganisms. They are configured to allow the infusion of irrigation fluids and the introduction of treatment accessories through a dedicated port. 

The sheath has a flexible clear optical window at the tip which moulds itself precisely to the shape of the Cystoscope tip to ensure optimal vision through the scope. The sheath has a camera cover attached to the hub to provide total coverage of the Cystoscope from tip to camera and part way down the optical cable.

In a busy Urology clinic there is an opportunity to save precious time by not having to reprocess the Cystoscope after each procedure. It takes just a couple of minutes to remove the sheath after completion of one procedure and to fit a new sheath ready for the next procedure. The scopes are also likely to wear less by not having to go through aggressive cleaning procedues.
